Gavin J. Porter,

in front of the cameras, he plays a completely different guy. he’s not an actor but he plays the role of good guy well enough. gavin has always had a way with words and the only person that he could never talk circles around was his step-father but that fucker is dead now and gavin could care less. it just means that the world can be spun for his benefit, in his own way. charming was what elle magazine called him just last month when they did an entire article on him, endearing was used six times, handsome was used five and the word commitment was even thrown in there when asked about his love life which still remains quite hushed. he did apologies to the ladies of the world because technically, technically, he is off the market. he put a ring on the finger of the most beautiful girl in the world, to him. he’s not surprised that he actually got her in the end but he was surprised by how quickly she turned him around. there is no denying that change has been seen in the male since he met the blonde, whose name continues to remain anonymous. he never brings her out, he never flaunts what they are publically and their private time together (when he is not on the road) is usually spent indoors, fighting or between the sheets. so who is gavin joshua porter? not too many people actually know the real him. cora, his fiancé sees the good, the bad and the ugly side of him which he cannot say does not exist. obviously, he is far from humble unlike his little brother, he knows that his looks are getting him somewhere and his skill on the field is getting him even further. but gavin was not always a good looking boy and though most evidence of his gawky teenage acne and glasses have been erased in the mysterious fire that burned down his and ethan’s childhood home, it’s still locked in his memory. it’s still in his classmates’ yearbooks and in their memories too. he was not fit but there was no added weight to stop him from becoming fit, he was just a lazy child. he was the eldest of the two and his mother was unfaithful to his deadbeat dad and ended up with his little half-brother’s father—john. he was a military man, one of the manliest men that gavin had ever seen. waking up at the crack of the dawn and forcing the two brothers out of their beds too, pushups, pull-ups, running through the forest. it took time for gavin to keep up to the stride of his step father who would shout at the young boys to pick their pace up. ethan was the blood son, gavin was tainted in his step father’s eyes and on multiple occasions tried to ship him off to military school only for gavin to come back weeks later with a suspension or a explulsion. gavin would not be silence in that way. he developed quite the lip, hanging around his friends at school and watching late night television helped to create a sarcasm that surpassed his own step father’s. and for that, gavin got the physical abuse along with the emotional but somewhere down the road, he stopped caring. he let the bruises form and the cuts be created, he just kept his sarcasm up, kept his quick comebacks up and taunted john into hitting harder. his mother remained silent and his brother, pathetic in gavin’s eyes, would never dare to step in and stop it. gavin got out of that house at the first chance that he got, sixteen years old, and began to couch surf between his high school friends and his college friends. gavin, a social being, created a solid circle of friends around him to occupy his mind from the horror of his home life. he hated john, he hated ethan for his existence and really, he hated his mother for keeping her silence and never stepping in to help. gavin was the only person in the family to get the brunt of john’s anger and though he asked for it, provoked the alpha male, he never expected that kind of an reaction. john died on the front lines, sacrificing himself (or that is what the story is) to save the men that were ranked below him. his mother went into distraught from the moment that the men knocked on the door, bearing the folded flag and bits of john’s dogtags sitting on top. they were the last piece of john and his mother was buried to them when she died of a broken heart. gavin did not attend the funeral of his step father, having no sadness for his death. he was just another person that was flicked off this earth. his mother though, he attended that funeral. he felt obligated to. as much as the never stood up for him or by him, gavin figured that he could at least round up the courage to see her for the final time. his eyes did not linger on her though, not like ethan who had tears running his face and was looking for comfort. gavin could not provide it. he just looked at his brother and called him a crude name as the line moved forward. he just took one step up to his mother, muttered a goodbye and moved on. ethan was far more emotion and gavin just could not handle that. he can show emotion himself but his family, they drained him of everything that he had. but ethan was under his guidance now, by law not by choice. he could have given his brother up to another family that would have actually care about him more so than gavin did. but he was selfish, he needed someone as much as ethan did in the moment of loss and so, he kept his brother in his custody but held him at arm’s length. it was not hard for him to do so especially when his soccer career took off – so when it comes to his family, gavin is resentful, aggressive, and apathetic soccer was not his intended sport, in fact, gavin had no intention on being on sport’s team, let alone making it his career at the end of the day. it had been the motorcycle accident that created the spinal injury that pushed him into soccer—ironic given that people usually ended up in a wheelchair due to this dangerous game. but to him, once it was discovered, it was something that he could never turn his back on. he enjoyed the thrill of every single game, the adrenaline that surged into his veins during the huddle. it was exhilarating and it made him feel alive. it was the very thing that kept him off those hard drugs that he kept getting offered on the way home from those late night practices. that was around the time that gavin realized that they needed to leave. the streets in their california neighbourhood were getting too graphic for the likes of the young males. as much as he trusted ethan to keep clean and off the streets, gavin couldn’t risk losing another one. soccer was not all that gavin had to live for, he had a brother and he had to be reminded of that. the road that he went on with his sport team took him out of the city, out of the state and even out of the country. ethan was left in the home but gavin knew that his awkward behavior and his lack of social skills would keep him in the house. scouts began to watch gavin as he played, developed and evolved into a selfish but excellent player. he was brutal on the field due it being his biggest escape route. all through his life, he was always second best to his ‘pure blood’ little brother and so, gavin has this streak, an addiction to be the best that he can be on the field. so with soccer, he is competitive, addicted and strategic now the ladies. they have always been in his life, here and there as either friends or as lovers. recently, he’s really only been involved with one girl – in front of the cameras. they see a blonde with a big hat or hiding her face, they speculate that it could be cora stark, the supermodel whose bite is worse than her bark and they would be right. but gavin’s thing is deny, deny and deny some more until the cameras turn away from them. the public is not their domain. but in reality, that ring that sometimes sits upon her finger is a gift from him to her to express that just maybe he wants to spend the rest of his life with her—but he’s not sure. just as she is not sure. they are not a good fit one another and yet, gavin can’t seem to let her go. he enjoys the gleam that comes off that shining ring when they both wake up next to one another. the only problem is, the sex is usually after a fight or due to a fight. it’s the bandaid that they stick over the cracks of their relationship because it’s something that they both enjoy. but gavin is not into commitment and why he got down on one knee could have been the alcohol coursing through his veins at the time or the fact that maybe, just maybe, this girl actually means something to him. he isn’t entirely sure yet which is why, he doesn’t always wake up next to the girl that he has promised forever to. travelling around means that he can kind of fuck around behind her back and mostly because, he knows she is doing the same to him. he knows that cora is not faithful and doesn’t mind slipping off her ring for a night out. all that gavin really cares about is the fact that she doesn’t bring home a disease and pass it on but he is aware that she is, usually, smart when it comes to protecting herself. so when it comes to love he’s unfaithful, uncommitted and desperate.. |
