it's sad you only Get your fame through controversy It was an adequate day at the diner where Holly worked. She had served a few soups and sandwiches, the classic, boring diner food Holly had familiarized herself with, but that was the exact amount: a few. The lack of business wasn't surprising for a cold Friday during work hours, and it was still an hour or two before lunch hours, when Holly got the most of her tips... even then, she didn't make much, barely enough for her to pay the monthly rent of her shabby one room apartment. Still, she considered herself blessed that she wasn't living in a cliche thriller movie neighborhood riddled with gangs and murderers. Holly breathed into her hands and rubbed them together, trying to keep warm in her blue pastel waitress uniform, the bottom of the cool-hued skirt resting an inch or two above the knee, which didn't help Holly's condition of feeling like she was living in Antarctica. Even after a few months of New York weather, she still wasn't used to the chill that most locals probably considered hot. Nashville was barely ever this cold in late April unless it was raining, and sometimes then it was still warm. At least, that was what Holly remembered of her hometown. She grabbed a tray of some kind of classic diner food that she was expected to serve, since she was the only waitress who waited with a smile and seemed to actually care. This early in the morning, (despite it being around ten... it was early for her), Holly was barely conscious as to what she was doing. There had barely been enough time for her to finish her coffee that morning on the way to work. The young girl served the meal to some unrecognizable customers with a forced grin, though you could barely tell it was fake; if you asked those customers, they would probably say Holly was genuinely happy to see them. With Holly being an upcoming actress and all, she often used these times to practice manipulating her emotions. With no more customers ready to be served at the moment, Holly took a seat at one of the many empty booths, relaxing against the maroon leather of the seat as she flipped through a gossip magazine she had pulled from her purse just a moment before. It was a few months old, but it intrigued Holly nonetheless, since she was the type to really be interested in today's celebrities. In the end, she wanted to be one of those celebrities in the magazines... but possibly an article that wasn't a disgusting rumor? Well, it didn't matter much in the end, if Holly was on the cover. Holly's limits to achieving fame were stretched a little longer than some aspiring celebrities', but in the end, her dream was to be appreciated for her talent, not be recognized as the girlfriend of an insulting pop singer. Still, she was willing to have a few rumors flying around if it got her to the top of the popularity pyramid quicker. Her almond shaped, dark brown eyes were snatched away from the glossy-paged book of lies when the chef of the diner shouted at her to go take a customer's order. She must have missed them when she was going around the room. That wasn't going to earn her points with her boss... Oh well. It wasn't like they could really afford to lose her. She jumped away from the light wooden table she was resting at and threw the magazine on the table, grabbing a small notebook from the pocket of her snowy shaded apron. As she walked over to the customer across the room, she also pulled a pen from behind her ear. With a charming, albeit counterfeit smile, Holly asked, "So, can I get you anything to drink?"
