the sun always rises ----- something was poking his cheek. he'd been dreaming about sitting on the beach and just listening to the waves crash into the shore and faintly he could feel something being pressed into his left cheek. he mumbled as he turned his head into the cushion on the couch and fought coming around to the real world again but the poking got harder and deeper into his cheek and it was starting to ache. mumbling something that he wasn't sure were real words he opened his eyes to see the face of his son filling his vision. he was sure that he'd settled ranger down for a nap before he'd come to collapse onto the couch for one of his own. but then his son was two and able to climb out of his bed on his own accord, it just wasn't like him to wake up before eli had the chance to squeeze in a twenty minute nap. twenty minutes? it felt like he had been sleeping for hours and he yawned, touched his hand to the back of his son's head and moved to sit up, careful not to knock his boy off the couch and he looked at the clock. well it wasn't hours, but it was longer than twenty minutes. "well then kiddo .. time to start on dinner i guess" he said as he stretched. his family were coming tonight. well at least two of his siblings had decided to bring their presence to his dining table tonight. he wasn't sure about lijah. eli had the night off so his twin would be working.
did he feel like cooking? not really. he wondered how his siblings would feel about a pizza or chinese dinner since he didn't feel like occupying the kitchen for longer than to get himself a drink. "pizza or chinese?" he said as he looked at ranger and grinned when the boy sucked his thumb while staring at him only to turn from his father to climb off the couch to go find his blocks. "thanks for the help" he said as he moved to get off the couch and crached his back by stretching his hands to the ceiling. satisfied with the crack he felt he relaxed into down into a normal stance and grabbed the phone, deciding on pizza. if arch and ti had a problem with it, well they'd be able to order in something they wanted. though he didn't have the chance to dial the number before the ever insistent knocking started on his door and he rolled his eyes a little. they weren't due for at least another half an hour. he frowned a little when ranger grabbed a hold of his leg and he moved to lift his little boy into his arms. cradling him close and keeping a hand on the back of his boy he moved to the door and opened it. "yes?" he asked, frowning when he went to grab the papers that had been shoved at him. court dates. wonderful. he had been about to say something but the person who had shoved the paper into his hand was all ready half way down the path and it didn't seem like he would answer any questions. shifting ranger he stood in the door, and held his son close while looking at the words written on the page. he could work with that. he was just waiting for all this drama to be over. which meant it was a good thing his siblings were coming tonight, he'd ask one of them to keep range while he hashed this out in court with his ex.
ooc -- okay so i'm so so so so so sorry if this is bad. it will get better i promise! but yay for some soon to be sibling love <3

tianna blew her bangs from her eyes, propping her elbows on the counter and laying her head in her palms as she watched the quiet crowd in the cafe. it wasn't particularly a busy day. tuesdays were always slow. there were only a few people milling around, sipping their coffees as they chatted with their friends. off to the corner, where the loud people sat, were the boys, goofing off with one another. this was their usual hang out when she was shifted at work. they said it was to make the place look busy to gain business. trouble was what they were in her opinion. they were a loud bunch and the crowd that comes in here are definitely not looking for such atmosphere. when she told them to shut up because she's trying to work, they'd just laugh at her and make more noise. she felt that maybe her boss was finally warming up to the boys because they were around all the time. it almost seemed like they were part of the package when he hired her. justin poked her side, chuckling when she squirmed. her blue eyes focused on what was going on around her but it seemed that they were all looking at her. "what?" a typical one word answer. they rolled their eyes at her and just continued their discussion as if they had never paused for her response to the situation. in turn, she rolled her own eyes. she had a hunch what they were waiting for though. she was the mediator of the group. she was always the deciding vote. it was unfair, really, but she supposed she didn't mind it as much as she complained about it. it made her feel important and included. usually, the topic was something small like which sports team was better or which player. sometimes it was dangerous territory because someone would get upset. but the difference between guys and girls was that guys forget about it a few minutes later. girls, on the other hand, would tell you they forgive you and then bring it up against you the next time you guys get into a fight. she knew this because it's happened with her group of girl friends before. which is why she always preferred to hang out with the boys. it was just less drama this way.
she got up from the table when the store closer walked in, late as per usual. sometimes tia wondered how the girl managed to keep this job for so long. but she supposed she was not much better when she was just hanging around with her friends. but at least she did her job. she came in on time, helped the customers with their needs and sat when no one needed anything. she always made sure the store was clean and that everything was well stocked. she actually did her job. although a part of it probably had to do with her ocd. she made her way around the tiny crowd, making sure everything was okay and clean before she approached the other girl with the key to her till. "everything's done and ready for you" she mumbled, placing the dirty dishes in the washer. when everything was switched over, it was already half past the time her original clock out time. with a sigh, she changed out of her uniform and into some jeans and a crop top, pairing it with a faux leather jacket before meeting the boys at the front of the store. she didn't know when this became a routine, but it was an unspoken rule that one of them would always make sure she got to where she needed to go safely. sometimes it got annoying with their overprotective needs, but she did appreciate their efforts to act like gentlemen. today, it seemed, that the whole group was going to walk her. not that she minded. she liked the company. "i'm going to eli's place tonight." she muttered out as they started their walk. they all knew who her brothers were. god knows she talks about her family enough. by the time she got to the end of the walkway to her brother's house, she was already in fits of laughter, shaking her head at how ridiculous they were. even as they retreated with a wave. she made her way towards the front door, not really paying attention to where she was going before she found her side shoved painfully by the impact of another person. before she could even react or say anything, the man was already getting into his car. she frowned before making the rest of the way up, where the door was still open. "he seemed to be in a hurry. everything okay, eli?" she asked, concerned, before she turned to ranger with a smile, "and hi there handsome little buddy." ✤

Please don’t let what was get in the way of what’s next. Don’t forget that what’s to come hasn’t come yet----------- fu—today was just sucking horribly. first, he slipped into the seal pool upon a light tush push from an overeager seal, then he ran out of fish to toss in the seal’s direction and finally, his train was late. that might have been the worst of it. he could easily dry off, take a shower in the lockroom, cut up more fish—those problems were easily solved but this one made him stuck, literally. he was stuck in the city with wet hair and only one sock (but he did manage to grab both shoes on his way out the door) on his foot, standing on the platform and waiting with a tapping foot. he tried to ask one of the men dressed in the florescent orange but they were walking too fast and completely ignoring archer. it was just not his day. he was not having a good, smooth day. he just needed one more bad thing to tip him over the edge. then he would eat something sweet and crawl into bed, hoping tomorrow would end up being better. he did have a family function that he had been looking forward to and his family could usually pull him out of the sour moods that he was in. ranger, mostly. his little nephew was a highlight, all the time. he hoped to be able to show ranger the zoo one day and introduce him to the seals but so far, the city was far and ranger was still just a little too young to handle such an interaction but the uncle could still dream about it, no? the whistle caught his attention, whipping his head around to see the train pulling into the station, archer impolitely shoved his way to the front of the line but stepped out of the way for exiting passengers before getting on the train himself. finding a good seat, he began to shut his eyes, going into autopilot for the rest of the trip while he caught up on such much needed stress relieving sleep.
with his stop being announced, his clock went off in his mind and his eyes popped open. the train was quite full but there was a good percentage of them departing with him into pearl river train station. he fumbled for his car keys in his pocket, needing to feel like he had some kind of security of how he was getting to his next destination—his brother’s house. fingering with the keys, archer figured that the rubbing of the metal pieces against one another was annoying and he was getting side glances but the doors opened before anyone could say anything and archer was already jogging down the platform. he was late. it was not surprising, his brother should have realized that his timing was never on par with the schedule—except at the zoo, for some reason. sliding into the driver’s side of his car, he tossed his gym bag onto the passenger seat and stared at the empty space for a moment. he had not thought about his dying fiancé all day—fuck, that was horrible. how could he not? sighing, he put the car into reverse and drove out of the spot, leaving those thoughtless thoughts in the dust. driving to his brother’s house was another autopilot kind of thing but archer still was responsive and alert when on the road, he already had his fiancé in a coma..thing…he didn’t need to be in one as well. shaking his head again, he parked the car near the house and got out. spotting his sister from the back, his brows furrowed as he watched her get plowed into, ”hey!”, he called out to the man in the suit, reaching the lawyer before he got to his car, his hand wrapping around the upper arm of the lawyer, ”going so fast, you didn’t even notice a person in your path. watch where you are going next time..”, releasing the man before he began walking toward the house again with another continuous shake of his head—”did someone piss in everyone’s cereal today?”, he asked while approaching the already opened door. he pressed a kiss to the side of his sister’s head, ruffling her hair shortly after before turning to his older brother and his nephew, ”buddy boy, what’s up?”, the two year old giggling in response, ”see, totally his favourite uncle.”.
