See the thing you’ve been chasing honey, You’ll never find it wearin’ a life vest-------------------------------------------- even though his home was in pearl river, ethan actually knew the streets of the big city too. he worked there, went to school there and apparently, he partied there. really, ethan would have rather been in his room, studying or in the kitchen trying a new recipe but his friends had insisted that he come out that night to celebrate. what they were celebrating was kind of unknown to him but his friends just pulled him onto the train without much of an explanation about where they were going. he had just been sitting on a train with a bunch of rowdy, already tipsy young adults. he should have been at the same level as them but he might have been further along to being drunk than the others. he was still quiet, even with alcohol in his system, but he was also on his phone, trying to determine where they would go after finding out that no real plans had been made. he found a club on his phone that all of his six other friends agreed on and then he sent a message to a friend—autumn. it was a longshot to get her to come out too but she always seemed to make these nights better. ”hey it’s..ethan. yea, was just…wondering if anything was on your agenda tonight. y’know, you can join my friends and i at spin…just say my name at the door…if you are joinig. bring anyone you want..”, it took him a few attempts to get everything spelled correctly and keep his slight tipsy state a secret. his friends passed him a bottle that was disguised to look like something other than the mixture of alcohol and coke, which is what ethan assumed. shaking his head, he passed it to the next person and put his phone away while closing his eyes, letting the party continue around him while he tried to sober up before getting the doors.
as soon as they got to the club, ethan was quite sober and pleased by the fact that his friends were not. it was enjoyable watching them all attempt to fake their soberness to get into the club. four out of six of them did and once they were inside, ethan was already looking for autumn, he had gotten the confirmation text message from her and was excited to see her. this was usually the circumstances that he had to see her in but it was worth it even if two or three of her were there by the end of the night. it was so hard not to get lost in her excitement and her enthusiasm for life. looking over to the bar, he thought maybe that would be a good place to start, plus his friends had already gravitated there in order to consume more alcohol. he did three or four shots with them before spotting the familiar brunette and gave her a sloppy wave. he used the bar for a second to keep him steady while making her way over to her and grinned, goofy, ”fally! how are you k’know…today? thanks for coming! no idea what we are…celebrating but it’s amazzzing already”. his eyes met the bartenders and he called for another two rounds of shots, sliding them over to her, ”so besides…this, what else is there to do here? i’ve never been to this club, it’s ..nice.”, he then looked over to her, still grinning, ”you too!...”. then he paused, realizing that his words were not making sense, it took his brain a moment to catch up before he gestured to her, ”nice. you look nice…too..”, he grinned before picking up the small shot glass and tipped it back, sticking out his tongue to the sudden burn of his throat, deciding that one was enough for him as he was already wobbly and he was pretty sure one more would knock him right off his feet.

in a room full of,
frozen faces and a moment of fractured time, we eclipsed in a conversation as the words, they passed us by. with you, we could be the only ones here------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | Wake up, work, sleep. Wake up, work, sleep. This was the life of Autumn Kaylee Monroe. Most of her friends were also busy with work or school and by the time night came, everyone just wanted to go to sleep. It was a frustrating cycle to be honest, especially when you were someone who was as high strung as Autumn. She always had so much energy built up within her and sitting behind a computer screen all day was no way for her to get rid of any of it. Usually, once she got off work and made it home, she would change into some running clothes and go out for a jog around the block a few times just so she could go back home and pass out after a long hot shower. It was a pretty lonely lifestyle, but she was contemplating getting a dog or something so at least she would have someone to come home to at the end of a terribly long and boring day. Plus, a dog would be able to keep her company while she was doing her nightly running. The idea itself was a pretty good one, but she had no idea what kind of dog she should get or if she should just take a trip to the pound and try to make a connection with one of those sad, abandoned puppies that broke your heart on those commercials. There were just so many options and she would often forget about it until she was laying in bed just staring at the ceiling, trying to convince herself that it was time to go to bed. Maybe some day she would get around to it, or have one of her friends accompany her during that particular life changing decision, but that would probably have to wait until she and one of her friends both had some time off. And... well, when they weren't asking her to go meet them at bars instead. Truthfully, it was kind of late and she was a little tired and hungry after working all day, but Ethan was the one who texted her and... well, she was quite fond of the boy. So she could forget about those feelings and go out for a few drinks with a cute boy instead.
Fortunately for Autumn, she arrived at the club a little earlier than Ethan and his friends did. This allowed her some time to take a few shots and catch herself up with the group before they even got there. The brunette was giggling and making nice with the strangers around her. They were all good company, but she was getting frustrated the longer she had to wait for Ethan to show up. It wasn't very often that the two of them got to hang out, but whenever they did get the chance to see one another, it was always a good time. He was sweet to her and that was something new. Most guys just looked at her for a good time under the sheets, but it was different with him. Of course, she wouldn't mind having a lay with him but... it was more than that she felt. They had a genuine friendship and he was a good kid and she didn't want to mess that up with a one night stand. So for now she would keep up with this whole friendly drinking thing until something flourished from it.
By the time Ethan finally arrived, Autumn was feeling a little bit tipsy. A large smile crept over her lips after she noticed him waving and as soon as he was within reach, she slid off her bar stool and wrapped her arms around his neck to embrace him in a warm, overly friendly hug. "Ethaaaan!! I'm glad you asked me out! Well... I mean, to come out and hang out with you. Also pretty glad that your friends are celebrating and thing and that it is an amazing thing!" The brunette let her arms fall away from his shoulders and then she hopped back up onto her seat. Touching him was always nice. Maybe that was a creepy thing to think but... he smelled good and his warmth was quite inviting. If she had it her way, they would be touching the whole night. Even if that was still kinda creepy. "I'm not sure! Like, it's a bar so umm... drinking and dancing and stuff could probably happen. Do you want to dance with me?" Now she was grinning playfully at him. They had danced together a few times before, and he was never all that graceful with his moves but... she enjoyed it regardless. "Aw, thank you! You look great. I just... yeah, never got the chance to change after work." Autumn shrugged and idly picked at the hem of her dress. It wasn't anything special, but she didn't exactly feel right dressing in her more revealing clothes in front of Ethan. She felt like being modest in front of him. Well, kind of. She still had no problem matching him in the amount of shots they consumed. So, after he knocked one back and made a cute little face, she did the same. "Yum... my favorite kind of burn." |

See the thing you’ve been chasing honey, You’ll never find it wearin’ a life vest-------------------------------------------- he had recovered enough from the pre-drinking to get into the club without much of a second glance, except when he nearly tripped on the step but that was just ethan being himself. he had been looking at the illuminated name of the club and had not really been paying attention to that extra test that was in place for him but he had amazingly caught himself in this extremely tipsy state and the bouncer turned his back to the idiot. his friends giggled at him, poking fun of how close of a slip that was but he was thankful that his balance act was on point today. he chuckled along with them, even giving a bow with his new found confidence thanks to the alcohol. but now, he was on a mission. his friends easily found company among each other and others but ethan looked to his phone to see if autumn had given any indication about where she would be. however, ethan knew that reading was going to be out of the question and so, he pocketed his phone and went merely on instinct. the bar was usually where they met up for nights like these so he assumed, she would be. he walked around, being a bit of a creep and staring intently at the different people until the familiar face caught his eye and he breathed out a sigh of relief. he no longer had to act like a stalker. he waved over to her and he was elated to see her waving back, meaning he had the right person but he was startled by the sudden affection but that was something that he should have been used to with autumn. she was a hugger, he wasn’t, not really. he never had it growing up and gavin was not going to be giving him a manly hug anytime soon—so this was good. he tentively wrapped his arms around her small frame, giving it a light squeeze before letting her go. her hyper nature began right off the bat and he chuckled, nodding, ”me too! you …answered, i was so happy that you did! i still have noo idea what this night is about though….”, his friends leaving him in the dark about why they were out through ethan suspected it wasn’t anything to do with celebrating and it was just an excuse to get him out.
he looked to the seat next to her and hesitantly slid into it. he was not sure if the beautiful brunette had company that she had been talking to but he guessed her excitement to see him would mean that she was alone….now. he was not sure how long her attention would be on him but he was happy to have it for the time being. ”right…and i brought you out…so i should…plan something, or do something. yes, dancing…let’s do that after this…if you y’know…want to”, referring to the shots that were now in front of them and he grimaced to the mere smell of it. he probably did not need anymore alcohol in his system but this was like a cheers, a toast, to their friendship which usually consisted of this exact thing. his new training schedule and work schedule and school schedule just did not allow much time for interactions with old friends. it was sad that they usually had to meet like this. he blinked innocently to the mention of that being her work attire, his hormonal mind was going haywire to that thought—how did anyone get any work down with her dressing like that? he would be distracted all the time, he was distracted now but he was forcing himself to either look at the shot glass or her eyes. ”oh…yea, they dressed me..”, referring to the two girlfriends that were wondering around the club, they had rummaged through his closet for his own attire and well this was the outcome. ethan thought that he could dress himself but they insisted and then refused anything that he suggested, it was a losing battle in the end. ”you like that…feeling? ick.”, but the after effects were nice which is why he picked up a second shot glass and tipped it back, scrunching his nose again but began to reach for her hand before stopping, ”um..want to..dance?’, he asked though he knew that he was horrible at it, he was really just using it as an excuse to keep being near her and monopolize her attention.

in a room full of,
frozen faces and a moment of fractured time, we eclipsed in a conversation as the words, they passed us by. with you, we could be the only ones here------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | Autumn didn't really mind having to wait by herself for a little while. Maybe it should, but it really didn't. In fact, she had grown quite used to keeping her own company because of all the out of sync schedules she and her friends kept. Sometimes she grew sick of herself of course, but who didn't? Talking to yourself for days probably wasn't such a healthy thing really, but all she needed to do was to keep in mind that one of her friends would show up eventually and she would suddenly remember what it was like to communicate with someone outside of her own head. That thought alone was pretty exciting. Autumn was thrilled to be in the company of another person who didn't share her own thoughts. Someone who could bring something new to the table. It was such a simple yet glorious thing that you could really only appreciate after you've started to slowly slip into the insanity that followed isolation. Then she also had to take a second to remind herself that she was a lot more dramatic and theatrical than the average human being, so things probably weren't as dire as they seemed in her head. She was probably just like, being an average adult or something. Working long hours and then going home to sleep, then not having enough time to to anything with anyone. Probably wasn't as awful as she made it seem but... well, to her it was pretty damn awful and she couldn't contain her excitement when Ethan finally came into view and all her prayers were suddenly answered by his beautiful face. "I'm glad you texted me! And now we're both here, together, so what does the reason even matter? Let's just have a general good time!" The brunette bounced in her shoes and smiled widely up at him. The circumstances under which they were celebrating were hardly that important at all, given that Ethan didn't know them and she was only here because he was. It was like they were having their own little party separate to the one his friends were having so... the original cause for this get together didn't really matter at all. No point in worrying about it. Unless it was someone's birthday. Then that might be a little rude.
While Ethan situated himself next to her, Autumn wiggled around restlessly in her own seat. "You did invite me out! I'm like, your date or something! How craaaaaazy is that??" She propped her elbows up on the bar to lean over in his direction, grinning mildly at him. Whenever they went out together, Autumn usually felt under the impression that they were just going out as friends... but sometimes she couldn't help but to wonder if maybe this handsome little gentleman ever felt anything more for her. Obviously she had some kind of crush on him, because she was always leaping at the chance to go out with him and to hang off his arm every second she could... but he was a little confusing. Sometimes she wasn't sure if he was flirting or just being nice. "Well, they did a very good job of it. Though, I imagine undressing would be the actual fun part." That last part sort of rolled off her tongue rather quickly and a little hushed. A side comment meant more for herself, but with a mouth as big as hers, it would have been surprising if he didn't hear her. Oh well. He should be used to her flirty, suggestive comments by now. "Eh! It's not so bad. Something you get used to after a while I guess. Don't worry. You'll learn." Autumn smiled and reached over to give him a light pat on the back. Honestly, with the shape he was in, it kind of surprised her that he could even feel the burn at all. Poor thing. Drinking obviously wasn't his game. "Of course I want to dance with you! I'd love to. You're the only man I'd ever want to dance with." After sliding out of her seat, Autumn took his hand and twirled her way to the dance floor, then twirled herself into him with her back against his chest. For a moment she swayed side to side against him with her head tilted back so she could see him. "Oh my, Ethan Porter! You sure do know how to make a girl swoon." |
