this was supposed to,
be the easy part, but breaking down is what i found hard. now i'm wearing this smile i don't believe in, inside i feel like screaming--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | For the past few hours or so, a small blonde sat huddled up in the corner of her bedroom with her arms wrapped defensively around her legs. Kurt had long since left her house, but not before he left her with a black and blue gift on her rib cage and a small cut to her lip. Truth be told, Daniella wasn't even sure what it was that she had done this time. She had stopped listening to the words that spewed from his mouth that second he started using that deadly calm voice of his because she knew what would be coming soon. And then, of course, he lashed out on her. During the heat of the moment she had taken the abuse like a champ. She didn't cry or flinch like she used to. Instead she stood as tall as she could and ignored the metallic taste of blood in her mouth while she apologized to him a thousand times over, begging him for forgiveness. It wasn't until she heard the front door close behind him that Dani allowed herself to collapse into a heap on the floor. First the shock kept her quiet and then the pain made her cry. Her first thought was to call Liam and beg him to stop whatever it was he was doing and come to her, but she knew that would be a bad idea. He was probably at work and she didn't want to disrupt him with something that would no doubt make his blood boil. It would be selfish of her to call him now, especially since it was too late for him to do anything to protect her. Giving him the broken parts of herself wasn't fair to him so... she would just have to deal with this on her own. And she did. It took her a long while to quiet down and quit her crying, and it took even longer for her to pull herself up from the floor, but she managed. After that it was only a matter of carefully dressing herself without cringing every time she moved, and then an honorable attempt to cover up the cut on her mouth. It was still visible, but the swelling had gone down and she cleaned the blood off it so it didn't look so fresh. If anyone asked her what happened, one of her young students at the dance studio rushed through the door which hit her in the face and busted her lip. It was a believable enough excuse she thought.
Unable to stay inside any longer, Dani grabbed her car keys and went out for a drive. For a while she had no clue where she was going or what she wanted to do, but after a while she ended up sitting in the parking lot of the local art store. She wasn't much of a crafty artist, but the idea of making some little presents for her students for Easter struck her and this would be the best place to get supplies. Her hands were still shaking when she removed them from the steering wheel of the car, but she ignored them and got out of the car anyway. The fresh air outside provided her with some relief which was a good sign. Helped to clear her head and distract her a little. Every step she took brought her that much further away from the scene she'd left behind in her house. That thought was calming enough for now. So long as she could keep her mind off Kurt, things should be alright.
Once inside the store, the colorful arts and crafts did a decent job of distracting her. Dani grabbed a basket and hooked her arm through it. She still had no idea what it was she wanted to make or where this project would end up going. Maybe she could redesign those plastic Easter eggs and fill them with little treats for the people at her studio. That sounded like a good enough idea so she wandered around until she found the bags of eggs and put two of them in her basket. Next she would need crafty little things to glue onto them and whatnot, so she explored the different areas of the store and picked things off the shelves that she thought would be creative and cute. Daniella had wrapped herself so completely in this task that she failed to notice a stranger in front of her and walked straight into him. The impact had her cringing because her side was still extremely sensitive, but she forced a smile after she steadied herself from the collision. "I'm sorry! I was in an intense shopping mode... forgot to make sure no one was in front of me." |

so tell me am I very far We count only blue cars skip the cracks in the street and ask many questions like children often do It was nice perusing the store as if it was a nice long walk. The tall, lanky man strolled down the aisles, his cart becoming increasingly full as he dumped item after item into it. He might have to scrimp on food shopping this week, but it was totally worth it when he thought of the projects he and his students could create with the new supplies. Yeah the school gave him certain things so he could cover the basics set by the school board, but it was never enough in Caspian's eyes. No matter how unruly or disrespectful they could get, his students deserved the best when it came to being educated on art. This past week had been a little distracting due to his run in with Eli Perrish, the math teacher that taught at the same high school as he did. Many times, he got himself distracted by even the mere thought of the smaller man. His mind kept repeating the situation over and over in his head, concentrating on the smallest details, including the state of his clothes. Eli was so clean pressed and polished, Caspian felt like a dirty hobo next to him. In all honesty, that's probably what he looked like. Having a short attention span when it came to anything but art, laundry wasn't an activity that happened often enough at all. Clothes shopping was also out of the question considering his paycheck went mostly to bills and art supplies, despite the fact he had enough for about 20 years worth of projects shoved in his tiny condo.
His thoughts continued to scatter as he leisurely paced the colorful store. Part of him wished he could just open his own, but he knew himself too well. He would probably end up using most of his product instead of selling it. Mr. Prince wasn't always known best for his ability to be responsible, even in the classroom setting.
Continually becoming distracted by differs supplies and paints and tools, he almost didn't realize that a petite woman had ran into him from behind. As soon as she began speaking though, he turned to face her, and boy was he glad he did. She was vibrant and beautiful, not dissimilar to paintings of women from older times that radiated this certain glow, drawing his attention first to her shining hair then down to her warm brown eyes. He smiled in response, although hers seemed to be tainted by something unpleasant stirring behind her bubbly-ness. In fact, her whole aura hinted at discomfort in some way. Mentally shaking himself, he opened his mouth to respond in a warm tone.
No worries, and no damage done. Although this seems to be the popular way for me to meet gorgeous people. He quickly covered his mouth with both his hands, his face flushing slightly. Oh jeez, I didn't mean to say that, I'm sorry if that made you uncomfortable, I swear I'm normally not this forward, it's just, oh goodness, sorry! Forcing his mouth to stay shut unless it decided to stop cooperating again, he looked away, embarrassed at his outbreak of sudden straight-forwardness. Something about this town was making him seem like a complete idiot in front of anyone and everyone he ran into (or ran into him). Speaking to people was difficult enough, but the circumstances in which he was being forced to was getting ridiculous.
Taking a deep breath, he looks back at her, but his eyes automatically zero in on the items in her basket. Forgetting his embarrassment for the moment, he takes interest, wondering what she was planning to create. Oh, what are you going to make, if you don't mind me asking? It didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out it was Easter-related, but he still liked to know what other people were working on, and hopefully it would distract from his earlier awkwardness. Art was one thing he had confidence in, and he liked exploiting it a bit to try and befriend people.

this was supposed to,
be the easy part, but breaking down is what i found hard. now i'm wearing this smile i don't believe in, inside i feel like screaming--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | Meeting and befriending strangers seemed to be a specialty of this particular little blonde's. She just had this sort of radiance about her that drew people in. Her sweet innocence was so light and pure that those around her found themselves attracted to it. However, not everyone who entered her life was a good person. Dani would probably beg to differ, but there were a lot of people out there who used her sweetness against her. Kurt was the biggest offender of all. He manipulated her in every way imaginable. He had taken the first few months of their relationship as a period to learn all of her strengths and weaknesses and then later he started to use them against her. From verbal to physical abuse to threatening her job and the people she loved. He knew every single way to get her to do whatever it was he wanted or to make her feel guilty for things she had no control over. The relationship was toxic, the bruises and cuts on her body were proof enough of that, but Daniella was incapable of seeing the flaw. As far as she was concerned, this was the kind of treatment she deserved because... why else would he be doing this to her? Kurt insisted that he loved her... and he always apologized after he hurt her. Surely a man who loved her wouldn't do this to her without reason, so it must be her fault. She must be doing something wrong. The girl couldn't quite figure out what it was that she was doing to receive this kind of treatment, but she refused to believe that Kurt was doing this just because he was a bad person. Everyone had good in them as far as she was concerned, and that was what made her bold enough to make friendly conversation with everyone who came her way. She wanted to explore the world around her and make friends with anyone who wanted to do the same. People always had interesting stories to share and she was curious to hear them. Even when said stories came from ordinary people she bumped into in ordinary stores.
A rosy pink blush crept over her cheeks and her green eyes widened in brief surprise after his comment. Compliments weren't a new thing for her, but Dani still wasn't vain enough to expect them whenever she met someone knew. They were always nice to hear... even though she knew that both her boyfriend and best friend would throw a fit if they heard some other man flirting with her. "Well, at least you've mastered the art of running into pretty people!" A grin tugged at the corners of her mouth. This made the cut on her lip sting, reminding her that it was still there. Then the blush on her cheeks deepened because she could only imagine how terrible she actually looked. Surely this stranger was just being polite because there was no way she looked close to decent at the current moment. "No, please! Don't worry, I'm not uncomfortable. That was actually very sweet of you. Brightened my day." Dani gave him an enthusiastic nod of her head. Regardless of whether or not his compliment had been genuine or not, it was still nice to hear. Especially after her boyfriend just beat and belittled her. She needed to hear nice things from people. They made her feel better.
Dani kept her eyes on him even when he looked away, peering curiously up at him until his eyes returned to her. Once he stopped looking away, her smile brightened. "I was thinking of maybe making some Easter eggs for my students. I thought it might be a cute thing to send them off with for the holiday." For a moment her attention flickered from him to her basket that was nearly overflowing with random packets of things that she would probably never even use. "I'm not exactly the most crafty person out there, but at least I'll have something to keep me busy for a few days." Well, truth be told, Dani always had a schedule that was nearly impossible for her to juggle, but somehow she made time. Usually by giving up a few hours of sleep every night... but she could never rest until she finished everything she needed to go. |

so tell me am I very far We count only blue cars skip the cracks in the street and ask many questions like children often do
He stopped feeling so nervous about interacting when color rose to the blonde woman's face, making him want to shower her with praise and compliments so he could see it more. She seemed like someone that needed more assurance of her beauty, but that could have just been Caspian's nature to appreciate art, especially in human form. She was a lot smaller than him, but in reality, who wasn't? Then his eyes focused on on the cut in her lip, concern coloring his expression. The only reason he noticed was that he had received many similar cuts from one persons fist and sometimes teeth. Deciding to not ask about it, since you know, it could be rather rude to pry like that, the tall man smiled down at her more, enjoying her presence and half hoping he could ignore the slight defeat in her eyes. He wasn't trying to be insensitive, but most of the time, it was a little easier for a person in that situation to ignore their predicament if everyone else did. Besides, Caspian just met her, so what place did he have to upset her with that?
Oh, Easter eggs? That sounds so cute! I don't know what kind of resources you have, but may I suggest buying little Easter baskets? Or even making them? I know of some patterns you can borrow if you want, they're fairly simple and quick to make. Not able to contain his inner art nerd, he blathers a little, become irrationally excited at the prospect of tiny Easter baskets for Easter Eggs that are going to someone else's students. Any art project piqued his interest, almost to the point where he would rather have a hand in its completion. In fact, he was already craning his neck to look around, trying to find materials to place in yet another basket. If you do decide to make your own baskets, I would suggest cutting strips of pastel colored fabric to weave through each other. I think if you weave it tight enough too, you might not need a wire base for it. Oh wait, no, use some wire, I almost forgot to factor in the weight of the eggs.
And of course, only after he talked the poor girl's ear off did he realize that he was offering a ton of advice that he wasn't even asked for. Shaking his head, yet again to clear his cluttered thoughts, he offered his hand. My name's Caspian by the way, I guess I should have led with that instead of lecturing you on art supplies. Nervous laughter bubbled out of his mouth. Part of him knew he wouldn't be fully comfortable with first interactions with people, but that was one piece of knowledge that didn't help at all, it maybe even made it worse. His other half wondered if repeatedly being forced into social settings would gradually condition him to not acting like the anxiety-ridden person he was. It didn't help that he didn't have an excellent track record with friendships. To be honest, he couldn't think of any that had lasted until present day. the only friendship that came to mind was one that had ended rather abruptly, due to a certian imbalance of affection.

this was supposed to,
be the easy part, but breaking down is what i found hard. now i'm wearing this smile i don't believe in, inside i feel like screaming--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | Dani would have been lying if she said she hadn't noticed his eyes wander a little lower on her face before honing in on the blueish-purple obstruction on her lip. When he stopped and stared a moment, her smile faltered and her confidence wavered some. He probably didn't mean any harm by it, and it was only natural to take notice to facial blemishes, but she couldn't help but to squirm underneath the weight of his gaze and potential judgment. She felt weak and inadequate now, reminded of her failure to protect herself. Of her failure to be a stronger person. A better person. If she could just stop messing up all the time, maybe that bruised cut wouldn't be there and she wouldn't be having some perfect stranger taking notice of it and wondering what kind of unfortunate soul he just so happened to have the unfortunate chance of running into. Impulsively she opened her mouth, almost tempted to bite her lip out of nervousness, but the reminder of his stare cautioned her not to or else she might run the risk of busting it open again. That would not be a pleasant sight in the slightest, so she resisted the urge to and closed her mouth again.
For what it was worth, he put on a good show of forgetting all about the cut on her mouth. Instead, he dived straight into the whole arts and crafts thing. He spoke with such enthusiasm about it that she almost forgot about feeling uncomfortable and broken at all. The smile slowly started to make its appearance again, being coaxed out by the lightness in his tone. "It's mostly coming from my own pocket, but that's a really good idea. I don't think I'd mind spending a few extra dollars to make them something nice." That, and money wasn't really a concern for her. It never really was. She was all set in the financial department for... probably the rest of her life. You'd never know it of course, because Dani wasn't the type of person to go around flaunting her wealth in everyone's faces. Of course she enjoyed some luxurious but... well, who didn't or wouldn't? However, she wasn't living in some giant mansion on the hilltop. She was happy in her moderately sized home with her quality furnishings and closet full of all the clothes she allowed herself to binge buy. "Yeah... I think maybe making the baskets would take a little too long. I have about twenty kids in my class and only a few days left to go! I'll probably just buy them here." A polite smile was sent in his direction. Of course she appreciated the advice, but Dani would like to save some time in her schedule for sleep. Even if it was only two or three hours at best.
When he finally got around to giving her his name, she laughed and shook her head. She knew all too well how that went. Getting too caught up in what you were saying until finally realizing that maybe you should stop talking or backtrack or something. It was okay. She wasn't bothered by it really. "That's quite alright! Don't worry about it. My name is Daniella, but you can call me Dani if it's easier. Most people do." After moving her basket to rest in the pit of her elbow, Dani reached her other hand to shake his hand. It was a lot bigger than hers, but it was warm and almost comforting. It was almost as if she'd forgotten what it was like to be touched by another person without having searing pain followed immediately after. "I'm sorry to have bumped into you. If you're busy... I guess I should be on my way maybe? Unless you'd like company and we go on this shopping adventure together." For whatever reason, part of her was hoping that he'd ask her to stay. Maybe he noticed the injury on her face, but he was nice and sweet and she wanted someone to keep her mind off of things for a while. She didn't want to be left alone in her head. |
