| Roxy wasn’t exactly thrilled about all of this. She was having a hard time accepting that she was pregnant. She was showing now, she was wearing somewhat bigger clothes now and she didn’t wasn’t telling people. Maybe if she was married, soberly, then she would be excited. If she loved her husband, then she would be thrilled to be pregnant. Maybe not so young. She had to tell work, when she explained everything to her boss, the marriage, the pregnancy… the gritty details (cleaned up) she was only chuckled at. Telling her they would take it one step at a time and Roxy was glad that she didn’t get fired. She was just asked not to discuss it with the children. She wanted to roll her eyes, seriously.. why would she discuss her pregnancy with third graders? She wasn’t planning on telling anyone until she and Wesley got everything figured out. She wasn’t exactly thrilled with him either, taking the divorce off the table just because she was pregnant. She knew they had a lot of figure out, but she wanted to get through this doctor’s appointment first.
The waiting room was quiet, she sat there quietly, her foot napping on the floor quickly, until the nurse came and got them. She had insisted on going back there alone last time. She did her research and since the conception of the baby was done drunkenly, she didn’t need him seeing anything that went on back in the appointment room. She had to be sure that the appointment wasn’t going to be so intrusive. It was a month after the first appointment, a month knowing for sure that she was pregnant. They got her weight first, then they ushered her and Wesley into the exam room before they took her blood pressure and had her do a pee test. Then, they needed to do more blood tests, thankfully they could do that in the room. The three blood tests that they had to do were the Nuchal Fold Test (Screening for Down Syndrome), Chorionic Villus Sampling (CVS) (Diagnostic test for many genetic diseases.), and Early Amniocentesis (Diagnostic test for many genetic diseases.). they wouldn’t know for a few days at least what they would be. The whole time she had to look away, she wasn’t exactly a big fan of blood especially her own.
Once that was over they prepped her for the ultrasound, when the doctor finally came in, she shook both Roxy and Wesley’s hand. Congratulating them on the baby, Roxy didn’t say anything only forced a smile. She hadn’t briefed the good doctor on their situation, all she needed to know was that they were pregnant. Roxy introduced them though, since they hadn’t met the last time. ”Dr. Jennings, this is Wesley Cameron… my.. husband.” she attempted her best at a proper introduction, but they couldn’t all be British and proper. Plus, it still felt wrong introducing him to the doctor as her husband. IT didn't seem that the older lady caught on to her discomfort it's a pleasure to meet you Mr. Cameron." The doctor smiled before prepping Roxy for the ultrasound, she got the monitor ready, before she started to scan. ”would you two like pictures today?” she asked them softly. Roxy was watching the monitor, too drawn into the subhuman looking creature moving around on the monitor, seeing how much the baby had grown in just four weeks, it thrilled and terrified her. That was their baby, somehow fate or something insane stepped in and made sure it happened. Without even thinking about it, she reached over and took his hand lightly, she was nervous. She was just glad they weren’t listening to her heartbeat, because that would give it all away. |

Post by WESLEY EVAN CAMERON on Mar 16, 2015 22:48:43 GMT -5
Cause I feel like I’m walking a tightrope. My heart is in my throat--- unlike roxy, wesley was just letting this situation roll out the way it was meant to. he never really panicked, he had a small internal breakdown of negative thoughts and ways that he could escape this, but on the outside, he remained the picture of calm. he was never one to let things sit on his shoulders and though this was something considered to be a ‘big deal’, wesley just saw it as another experience. it could turn out good or bad for him and roxy but in the end, he would forever be a father to the child growing within her womb. that simple fact was not going to change and no amount of bitching or freaking out was going to change that. he had taken the annulment off the table, literally, when she told him that she was pregnant with his child and since then, wesley has tried to be as good of a vegas husband as he could be. he called her, he texted, he checked in but at the same time, wesley had a career that could not just stop for every little blip that happened to her. he wanted to be there to feel the baby kick but his assistant’s research had informed him that he would not be missing that yet since roxy was not far enough along to feel much movement. it was like the size of a grape, which confused wesley to compare the growth of a child to fruit but each to their own. now this was the part that he got to be nervous about as he sat in the waiting room with a buzzing phone in his pocket, in case he forgot that he had a job, it served as a reminder to him. sighing, he finally got too annoyed to answer emails and texts and reached into his pocket to put it on silent, still allowing the influx of questions and changes to his direction to flood his inbox but at least he did not have to feel it happening. he turned his head to look over to roxy who had been quite silent for the entire car ride and now the entire time that they were waiting for their names. it was surprised to hear his last name attached to the pair of them when the nurse did call them, turning his head to give her a smile as he rose out of his chair and offered his hand to help her out of hers. following along, drifting away from the nurse and roxy, wesley kind of eyed the rooms and the posters and the medical equipment around him. he just silently followed along but turned his head away when it came to the needles, still offering his hand to his wife in case she needed to squeeze it for the discomfort that the needles caused.
once the pre-exam procedures were over with, wesley felt a little more secure in taking a look around the room. he felt a little guilty for looking away and he was about to apologize to roxy when the door opened and someone in a white coat appeared. he assumed that it was the doctor. giving the doctor a firm handshake in reply, he smiled and nodded, ”thank you.”, and turned to look at roxy who seemed far more quiet than the usual roxy. he remembered a few different shades of this girl but this one was making him a bit nervous. taking a spot by roxy’s head to keep her lower region out of his view. he might have seen it before but he was drunk and that night was a little blurry for the pair of them. he did not want to see it at this moment anyway and just wanted to focus on what was happening on the screen. his eyes were instantly drawn to this little white sack that was enveloped in shading, it really did not look real, it looked drawn, sketched. it felt surreal at this moment to see this little thing as his child, well, as their child. ”yes please....”, his voice droned as he was still just staring at the monitor screen. the only thing that turned his attention away from the baby on the screen was the fact that she took his hand and he quickly brought the back of their linked hands to his lip, pressing a kiss to the backside of her hand, ”wow..”, was all he could really muster out as he gave her hand a squeeze, ”that’s our baby..”, pointing out the obvious while pointing to the small flickering heartbeat, ”i think my heart and it’s are matching in speed right now…”, as wesley could hear his own heartbeat resonating in his ears.

| Roxy really wasn’t sure how to handle the situation she found herself in. Wesley seemed amazing, he was a gentleman and it would seem that he was actually handling this very well. He hadn’t accused her of lying yet, he was taking it all in stride. She on the other hand, was not handling this well at all, she was having emotional break downs during the day. Her moods were going from one extreme to the other some days, and she was starting to get horrible cravings. She was so focused on the screen, on their little blippy, she was barely aware of the doctor or Wesley, but she still grabbed his hand. She was surprised when she felt his lips on the back of her hand. She looked up at him, a swell of emotions hit her. This man was her husband, even though she knew neither of them wanted it. This was their baby, even if neither of them were too thrilled with it.. but this is what was given to them.
She was a little more surprised that he said that his heartbeat was matching pace with the baby. She was amazed hearing the lub dub of the baby’s heartbeat. She attempted to give him a smile, ”Mine too..” she said quietly, giving his hand a small squeeze back. The doctor gave them both smiles as she took pictures with the ultrasound, before wiping her belly off and handing them the string of black and white pictures. ”I printed four off.. do either of you have questions?” she asked, clearly the appointment was at an end now. Roxy thought about the hundreds of questions she had, she didn’t know how to ask them though. ”When will be know the test results?” she asked, she wanted to be well informed, in the baby would have disabilities, then she wanted to know and be well prepared ahead of time. She had a look on her face, like she had a million questions to ask, but she couldn’t get her voice to work. The doctor just nodded her head slightly. ”just a few days, to a week… if anything is wrong with the results, then we’ll handle that if it happens… I don’t want you to stress out over this, from what I can tell and the health exam you’ve done and the health history you’ve both done… you have nothing to worry about. You’re both young and health..” she told them, she had done this many times that was clear how she was handling the situation. ”I don’t want you to stress and I don’t want you to change anything that’s you’ve been doing.. we’ve already discussed your diet and everything… you know; no alcohol.. well a glass of red wine won’t hurt…. But other than that don’t change your lifestyle, if you work out.. don’t change it much okay?” she was clearly just trying to calm the tension a little bit, she looked to Wesley, ”do you have any questions Mr. Cameron?” she asked.
Roxy sat up, when the goop from the exam was wiped from her belly. She pulled her plaid button down, back into place before she pulled her legs back over the edge of the table. Once Wesley got his questions asked, then she walked out giving them time alone for a few minutes to go get information for them. Roxy sighed softly, looking at the little ultrasound print out. She looked at him with a small sigh. She wanted to fix things, to make them easier, but she didn’t know how. She didn’t know what to say or what to do. So, she slowly hopped down from the table top and looked at him carefully. She leaned over to him and kissed his cheek softly. ”Thank you.. for being here..” she said softly to him. She knew they needed to work together on all of this. She wanted to suggest an outing together, but she knew he was busy with work and his movies and everything, so she didn’t want to be such a burden, he had more important things to do then spend time with her.

Cause I feel like I’m walking a tightrope, My heart is in my throat--- as their name was called, his head picked up as both last names were muttered by the nurse. technically, she was a cameron, if they were going by the traditional customs. the girl took the guy’s name, it was just customary but welsey was not going to push roxanne on that small technicality. he did not want to take away her identity among the other things that she could kiss goodbye. it felt like he would be taking her identity. standing up when his name was called, he reached for her hand but she seemed to be keen to stand herself up and wesley pocketed his hand. the nurse could feel the tension as she separated the two of them, letting roxy go ahead and then quickly following while welsey tagged along behind them. passing by examination rooms had his heart thumping in his chest, ready to turn when the other two did. he kept psyching himself out, seeing empty rooms and feeling his heart jump into his throat. they were about to see their baby, the creation of a drunken night –seemed to be a theme with them. finally they were directed into a room and left in the silence between the two of them. welsey had nothing to say that was not already being said as they waited impatiently, his fingers tapping on the paper that was used for sanitation purposes, as he stayed up by her head, waiting. it was all that they seemed to be doing –waiting for things to start between them. welsey sighed with relief as the door was opened and a woman who had the appearance of a doctor showed herself. he put on his best faux smile as he could, trying to hide his own nerves as the formalities were pushed out of the way and they were left with nothing but the three of them and a monitor screen. it was an instinct to reach for her hand, giving her a reassuring squeeze just to remind her that she was not here alone and she was not going to be doing this alone. his eyes fluttered, feeling a small line of moisture beginning to build on his tear line as he just stared at the screen before him. this was quite possibly the coolest thing that he had ever seen. ”guess ..it gets it after his mom and dad…”, he muttered, his eyes finding hers after a second and producing a small, real smile.
the nurse was then giving instructions, forcing his attention from the monitor to the words coming out of the doctor’s mouth. he furrowed his brows to the mention of wine and gave his head a small shake, ”i really would prefer her not to have any alcohol…”, he muttered but looked over to roxy to let her know that he was serious. he loved this growing child already. seeing the heartbeat meant that it was real for him, it was not just words and possibilities, it was real. he had never heard anything about alcohol, even a little, being healthy for a fetus to have. his tongue suddenly felt heavy. he only had a million questions to throw at the doctor but instead of blurting out a string of them, he gave his head a shake, ”not at the moment.” but that was a complete lie. he would just call if any of them actually wanted to come out of his mouth and stop rolling around in his head. ”thank you”, releasing roxy’s hand as soon as the lights were on and the monitor was just a black screen again. he turned his back and stared at the random bits of information on a board nailed to the wall. basic information and then there were small papers about complications, welsey decided to avoid that section and just briefly skimmed over the intense life of a child growing in a womb. it was like a story that captivated for him until he heard the crinkling of the paper which made his head turn to see her decently dressed again. he took his own print of the ultra sound and folded it carefully, tucking it into his wallet while walking closer to her. he ceased mid step when she brought her lips to his cheek and thanked him for being there today. nodding, wesley reached over and took her hand once more, finding that it not only comforted her, but him as well. knowing that she was in his life seemed to soothe those deep worries that sat on his mind all day. was he even ready to be a father? guess that was a little too late to ask. letting her hand go, he quickly brushed a strand of hair out of her face, ”you as hungry as me?”, he asked abruptly, deciding that this time was going to be good as any to talk about their future but food would be a nice buffer to cut through the seriousness of it all.

| Roxy was glad the baby was healthy, and she hoped it stayed that way. She didn’t know how she would handle a baby, let alone a sickly one. She saw the smile on his face and she wasn’t sure if it was forced… it looked real, but then again, she really had no idea what he was thinking. She supposed that neither of them had really been open about what they were feeling. She knew she wasn’t exactly little-miss-feelings, this is exactly the reason she wasn’t all about relationships, she sucked at them. She was selfish enough that she wanted her time to herself, and she didn’t like sharing it with people, other than her work. She watched his reaction change, he was serious now and when he looked at her, she almost wanted to give him a look. She wasn’t about to drink, even a little bit, but just for the fact that he said no and she could tell by the look on his face he meant it, she wanted it. She gave a slight smirk, almost a bitter one to add to his words. ”Alcohol really doesn’t do well with us..” she commented, she knew it was true. They were married drunkenly and the little blip on the screen was a drunken occurrence. She didn’t want to know what the hell else could happen to them in a drunken stupor.
Everything was over now, the appointment was done, the doctor was gone, now they just had to leave. She carefully placed the picture in an inside pocket of her purse. She wasn’t expecting a reaction out of him, cheek kisses were a norm in Britain right? She was the one shocked when he took her hand. She almost instinctively pulled her hand away, but this is how married couples acted right? Especially, married couples expecting, they always seemed more doting on each other. Her eyes closed when he reached up and brushed hair out of her face. She looked at him carefully, confused for a second. Food? Food was always a good idea in her book. She liked food. She nodded her head softly. ”Yeah.. sure.. I mean.. I guess I am eating for two now?” she said with a small shrug, touching her almost there baby bump. She knew other people probably couldn’t tell yet, she probably just looked like she had a big lunch.. but she could tell. ”Let me just get the next appointment set up..” she said quietly, as they made their way back to the waiting room. She set up the next appointment, the only time available wasn’t exactly the best for her. She didn’t want this to get in the way of work. Maybe this was a little more important than her fourth period and lunch, but she didn’t like missing work. Plus, that just seemed like a bad time. She was sure that this wouldn’t be good for him, but then again, maybe he would be somewhere else. He was a director after all, right? They traveled all the time. There was no saying where he would be in four weeks.
She got her little reminder card and placed it haphazardly in her purse. ”So.. food?” she asked as she turned towards him. She didn’t want to think about the future, she knew in the next week she would be thirteen weeks, into her second trimester, and generally that’s when people told their friends and family.. but she didn’t know what to tell her family. Her parents weren’t exactly happy with her life decisions so far. If she just showed up with a man she married in Vegas, drunk, and announced she was having his child… again from another drunken night, they would probably disown her again. She didn’t even want to know what her father would say, or threaten, she knew who he worked for.. and it suddenly concerned her that maybe Wesley would judge her for who her family was and what they did. She absentmindedly put her hand on her stomach, thinking of all the stress and drama this little alien like creature growing inside her had already caused, and who knew how much more drama and trouble it could cause.. she could only think of his comment from back in the office, how the baby took after it’s mom and dad… she wondered how he was as a child, if he was compliant? She was never, she knew that, she also knew that she would probably have hell to pay for the trouble she caused and stuff she tried to pull. Was this going to be her pay back? This little thing that was growing.. that would be here sooner than she was comfortable with. This little thing that would demand for her attention. She looked at him carefully for a second. Wondering if she should ask him about anything, anything at all, like his childhood or what he really thought of this little situation they had gotten themselves into. She wasn’t really sure if he would even tell her the truth. She hoped that he would but she didn’t really know him at all. Thinking about that scared her a little, she barely knew the man she was married too, the man she was having a child with.

Cause I feel like I’m walking a tightrope, My heart is in my throat--- he nodded to her statement about alcohol and the couple not mixing. he could not deny it. their entire situation had alcohol has a catalyst for everything that they had done up to this moment, except her telling him that she was pregnant. the marriage, which wesley had thought to be considered ‘fake’ was in fact, true. getting married in vegas meant that it held legality purposes. at this moment, while staring at the screen where a small fetus was being watched, wesley could not even remember what he had gone to vegas for but maybe, it was not the worst trip ever. for him at least. he did not have to carry a baby around for nine months and then go through the excruciating (or so he had been told) pain of childbirth. no, that was all on her. welsey would just have to be the husband—the one to care for her, go out on late night craving runs, and hold her hand when things just got a little too scary for her. he could do that but he admired her for the role that she was going to be playing. the doctor appeared to be chuckling just for appearances as wesley had not mentioned his and roxy’s actual history and he doubted that she said anything too. the joke would have went right over the doctor’s head but it stung him. he hoped that was not what their relationship was built on, even if things did not work out for them in the end, welsey dd not want this child thinking that it was created out of nothing but alcohol induced sex. with the appointment over, he looked to roxy and was tempted to ask what that question meant. it seemed to have some kind of underlying message directed to him but maybe he was just over thinking it. the emotions that were rushing through him was just playing with his head and wesley let go of her hand and turned around so that she could change out of the gown and back into her clothes. even though he had seen everything once before, it had been in a flurry, blurred haze of passion and drunkenness, this was a completely different scenario with totally clarity of his senses being involved.
he waited for some kind of signal and only after having had his back turned for a while, did he begin to look over his shoulder, planning to quickly look away if he saw any exposed skin. but she was dressed and he turned around, nodding to her, ”you would be, that screen just said so. at least it’s not eating for three.”, he grinned, trying to make a joke but probably just managed to freak her out more about this entire situation. his eyes followed the movement of her hand, smiling as she touched her barely there bump before his smile faded and he nodded to her, ”i’ll be here…”, but then he realized that she would not be returning to the room and pointed over to the waiting area where they had started from, ”or over there works too..”, swiftly moving himself away so that she could plan her next appointment. for him, if she wanted him there, she would tell him what day she made it for, it was more her business than his right now. he was just the baby daddy and the husband—kind of, not really. he had the title but there was no connection or emotion behind them. sure, the kid was cool to see and he was going to be there for it for it’s entire life, or until his life was over, but who knew with him and roxy. he pocketed his hands, looking around at the expecting mothers, nervous fathers and then at the many, many babies surrounding him. he suddenly felt sick. he was far more calmer than these dads and most of them were holding the hands of their expecting other halves. why was he not freaking out? the thought was freaking him out so he looked over to the desk to see roxy turning back around and he instantly moved to her side to get away from the surreal feeling that had just occurred. ”food sounds great.”, he commented while looking down at her hand. he could grab it, he should and so, he did. wesley took her hand in his own and began to lead them, quickly, out of the doctor’s office. he took a deep breath of the fresh air as soon as it hit him and he turned his head to look at her, ”you craving..anything? i read in that book thing in the office that you will soon, if you are not already.”, pulling the car keys out of his pocket as he led her over to the car, pulling open her passenger side door first as he waited for her to get situated before he closed the door. the small walk around to the driver’s side was where he started to panic, internally. his breathing was a little quicker but it was nothing that he couldn’t play off. sliding into the driver’s side, he started the car, ”decided on your meal choice yet?”, he asked while beginning to back out of the spot.

Roxy smirked softly at his comment, giving him a look. God, twins would be horrible, maybe not if this wasn’t so unexpected. But, twins would not be good for her at the moment. She wasn’t aware of the panic attack that Wesley was going through at the moment. She smirked softly hearing his words though, maybe she should have told him she wouldn’t be coming back to the room. But, he seemed to figure it out. She couldn’t help but laugh quietly at his words. She had to give him credit for taking the punches. She wasn’t freaking out as much yet, she like to have her moments in private, not in front of a room full of strangers. She was having a hard time holding herself together more and more it seemed, but she could at least blame it all on the over amount of hormones coursing through her body. She was a little surprised when he came over and grabbed her hand. All those babies and regnant ladies, with the doting husbands or the nervous boyfriends,, was enough for her to welcome the act, she leaned slightly into him. She tried to not let it all bother her, most of the people that were in this office were happy with their situations, some of them probably weren’t. here she was, not happily here, with a man who was legally her husband.. but they had no emotional ties, the only reason they were even still married because of the baby that was currently giving her heart burn that could take down a giraffe.
She was impressed that he had read a pregnancy book, he just seemed to be proving to her at every turn that he was actually going to be there.. She had been reading them too, she had gone out and bought the recommended ones, but she was reading the parts that didn’t terrify her, like the things that could go horribly wrong. Food was good to keep her mind off of it though. She smirked softly, she liked food, even when she wasn’t pregnant, food was always good for her. She couldn’t think of any cravings that weren’t completely uncommon for her. She thanked him quietly as he opened the passenger side door for her. As she settled, she buckled herself in and situated herself quickly by the time the door was closed.
When he was in and settled she was smirking, still unaware of the change in his anxiety level. ”I haven’t had cravings out of the norm.. but I’ll let you know when that happens…” she said with a small grin. ”Food is always good to me.. so maybe this pregnancy won’t be too horrible.” Maybe she wasn’t excited about the weight that she could gain, so she couldn’t go all too crazy, but she would use it as an excuse for extra food or maybe ice cream. She didn’t know what she could do if food became unappealing to her, which she read could happen. She absentmindedly put her hands on her stomach as he backed out of the parking space. ”What are you in the mood for?” she asked, since she wasn’t really sure what sounded good to her. She sat there quietly, thinking about the other things she had read. She glanced over at him, other cravings she would get or couldn’t get enough of, she had to get her mind away from that, so she changed the subject away from cravings. ”So.. what were you like as a kid?” she asked, curious. She wondered what the little one would be like, how it would be raised.. how it would turn out. |
